The Camera Is Our Best Teacher

Hi there my friends at HairDesignerTV and fellow stylists,
Thank you for joining me today, When Cathy Davys traveled all the way from New Zealand to do a four day private training with me, it confirmed my joy of teaching. It is so wonderful to share knowledge and see a student blossom, especially Cathy who is successful and talented. I confess when I teach I too learn so much, so you could say my students are my teachers, for which I am so grateful.

What I loved the most about Cathy was that in spite of her amazing success, she showed up hungry to learn, open to reinvent herself and push the boundaries of creativity. Cathy has been a member of and realizes the power of online learning realizing that no matter where you live in the world you can connect and keep learning.

This collection show cases variation in style and fashion with one model and seven looks.
As you can see, we got very creative. Cathy learned the art of razor cutting how to work with wigs and hair pieces, and I got behind the camera and shot this collection, which was so much fun.
Keren Nigh did a great job of the makeup, interpreting to fit each hairstyle and create a cohesive look.

I truly think that being versatile stylist is the key to success today.
From styling and finishing skills, precision cuts, razor work, and of course beautiful color.
Cathy’s collection demonstrates all of these elements, showcasing her skills. So why do I labour the point? No matter how much you know there is always more to learn, that’s what keeps hairdressing exciting. I say “do not let fear of failure stop you from trying something new. Embrace change!”  I think being curious to learn and adventurous keeps one young!
